To do a first look or stick with tradition? | Silverton, CO Wedding | Dan+ Hannah
The First Look! Do you do it, or wait till he sees you coming down the isle? Will it still be special if we see each other before? I get this question from so many of my brides.
For those of you who do not know what a First Look Is, here is it pretty simply; Traditionally a bride and groom may not even spend the night together the day before the wedding. When you first see each other it will be when you walk down that isle.
As a photographer, this moment is so special, the look on the grooms face as he see's how beautiful she looks. The bride trying to hold back tears as she sees her soon to be husband and the way he is looking at her. All this emotion while your closest friends and family are there watching and supporting you. It can be a lot.
However, emotion is wanted here people! We as photographers want tears!! Happy tears of course. :) But does doing a first look and seeing one another before hand take away from that? No. It can be just as special, and romantic. It can take a little bit of the pressure away from everyone looking at you in your most emotional state, because this is the moment most in your day that your heart will be pounding, and those flood gates will open.
It can cut down on time spent taking photos after a ceremony, (we know everyone is itching to get to their reception). Either way, there is still the wonderful emotion you feel when you see one another for the first time. You are about to be husband and wife! He will look so handsome, the most handsome he has ever looked. You will feel like all your dreams when you were five of being a beautiful princess are coming true. It is such an amazing feeling.
So i'm here to tell you, that either way you go, First Look or Traditional... it is just as special; to show you, I included a first look from a wedding I did this fall, and I also included one of myself with my dad. It was the moment that I had dreamed about with him. The doors opening and Greg seeing me coming towards him. My husband and I talked about doing a first look, but he told me that he has waited for the moment when he would see me with my father coming down the isle. That was our moment, and what we chose. However the more I photograph first looks, the more I think it's pretty darn cool to do it that way. xo hope you enjoyed this post.
